At CapitalCorals we strive to support the greater research community with our unique resources and professional expertise with cutting edge molecular approaches and superior coral husbandry. 

We have a large offering of Indo-Pacific region corals that have been in aquaculture for 2-20 years, and a network of exporters  to obtain CITES permitted ocean reared corals from mariculture facilities with minimal impact on native reefs.  

Acropora sp., Montipora sp., Pocillopora sp., Galaxea sp. and many others are among the reef building hard corals in our collection, while Sarcophyton sp., Sinularia sp., and Palyotha sp. are some of the soft corals cultured at our facility. Working with clonal corals offers many advantages in experimental design, and our corals are well adapted to the testing environment thereby minimizing uncontrolled stress responses in the corals during the course of the experiment.  Contact us for a full listing of species.

Our Research Services offers access to specialized coral testing systems, equipment, expert guidance on experimental design, water quality analysis, and 24/7 data collection support.  A single coral species with multiple genets or many coral species can be examined under controlled conditions to desired endpoints.  Our expertise in molecular analysis ensures the samples will be processed to user specifications. Whole coral tissue, histological preparations, tissue lysates, or purified nucleic acids can all be processed by our team.

Additionally, we provide training programs, system design and installations, workshops, and collaboration opportunities for academic researchers who are looking to get coral cultures established in their facilities.

 We also offer tank space rental that includes maintenance services, controlled environment setups, and technical assistance during experiments for researchers who wish to conduct research on-site.
